1000 Canadians turn 65 each day. 25% of retirees in Nova Scotia live alone. Research tells us that social isolation is a serious health issue and that volunteering for 2+ hours per week can reduce loneliness, mental health concerns like depression, and even the onset of dementia. Are you 55+ and looking for a way to contribute to the future of your community?
Mentoring Plus aims to ensure opportunities for social inclusion and a sense of community purpose among the retired and near retired (55+) population. The intention is to accomplish this through team-based mentoring of unemployed and underemployed individuals (16 - 35+) and to provide support in relation to the future of work.
Our Mentors provide support and guidance to unemployed or underemployed individuals in a variety of settings as they make decisions about their future and their career. No matter your experience or background, you have the skills and knowledge to share. Become a part of the Mentoring Plus Strategy by completing a Mentor Profile form, and a member of our team in your area will be in touch. Instead of completing the online form, you can pdf download the form (179 KB) and complete it later.
